Pad mounted distribution transformer is a common device in power distribution systems, mainly used to reduce medium voltage to low voltage for use by commercial, residential or industrial users.

Core: It is usually made by stacking silicon steel sheets with high magnetic permeability to reduce hysteresis loss and eddy current loss.

Windings: High-voltage side and low-voltage side windings, mostly made of copper (with good electrical conductivity) or aluminum (with lower cost), are wrapped with insulating materials.

Shell: Made of steel plate or aluminum alloy, it features water resistance, dust resistance, corrosion resistance and vandalism resistance. Some models are equipped with ventilation holes or heat sinks.

Cooling system: Mainly natural air cooling, and some large-capacity models are equipped with forced air cooling devices.
