Given the regulating role of transformers in power systems, technicians must select suitable transformers to complete installation operations so that they can function normally. Winding materials are the primary issue that needs to be paid attention to when installing transformers. Devices made of different materials play different roles. For wound transformers, due to the special structure of the device, materials such as enameled wire, yarn-wrapped wire, silk-wrapped wire, and paper-wrapped wire are used for installation, which can play a good electrical and thermal conductivity role. The superior corrosion resistance also enhances the stability of the circuit. From the perspective of existing transformer products, the winding materials used in transformer installation generally include: iron core materials, insulation materials, impregnation materials, etc., and the installers must select them according to the actual situation.
(1) Iron core materials. The transformer uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to control the current and voltage values, and the iron core is the core component of the transformer. Its material condition determines the regulating function of the transformer. It is best to add silicon to the iron sheet to reduce the electrical and thermal conductivity of the steel sheet and avoid increased energy consumption after the device is put into operation. The power industry standard stipulates that the magnetic flux density of silicon steel sheets must be controlled within the effective range, such as: the magnetic flux density of black iron sheets is 7000, and the magnetic flux density of low silicon sheets is 10000, etc. The installation site can select the appropriate material based on the actual situation.
(2) Insulation materials. In recent years, the incidence of accidents during transformer installation operations has continued to increase. Considering the safety issues during transformer installation, on-site personnel need to pay attention to the selection of insulation materials to protect the normal operation of other equipment in the system. At present, many transformers have been equipped with insulation components, such as washers, insulation devices, etc., but there are still safety risks due to improper human operation. Transformer installation needs to enhance its insulation performance from the aspects of isolation between coil frame layers and isolation between windings.
(3) Impregnation materials. Impregnation is the final process of winding material processing. Its main purpose is to improve the mechanical properties, electrical properties, and insulation properties of the material and avoid various safety accidents in later use. After selecting the winding material, the installer must paint the impregnation material and set an insulation layer on the surface of the material. The more commonly used paint material is cresol varnish, which can play a better safety role after painting and extend the service life of transformer equipment.
