Box-type substations are the main direction of current rural power grid transformation and future substation construction, but there are still some shortcomings in certain aspects, specifically:
(1) Fire prevention problem: Box-type substations are generally fully sealed and unattended. Although all equipment is oil-free and equipped with a remote smoke alarm system, there are still fire hazards in the box, such as cables, compensation capacitors, etc. Once a fire breaks out, it is not conducive to ventilation and fire fighting. Therefore, an automatic fire extinguishing system should be designed, but this will increase the manufacturing cost of the box-type substation.
(2) Capacity expansion problem: Due to the limitations of volume and manufacturing cost, the expansion margin of the outgoing line interval of the box-type substation is small. If you want to add 1 to 2 outgoing line intervals in the original box, it is relatively difficult. You must add another box to do it.
(3) Maintenance problem: Due to the consideration of manufacturing cost and box volume during the manufacturing of box-type substations, the maintenance space of the box-type substation is small, which is not conducive to equipment maintenance, especially emergency repair. This is the inherent deficiency of the box-type substation and an insurmountable shortcoming. In short, looking into the future, box-type substations will be widely used in cities, rural areas, industrial and mining enterprises, and public buildings and facilities in my country. They will be used by more and more people for their high quality and low price, bringing the operation level of my country's power grid to a new level.
